Course Descriptions:
LEGO Spike Essentials: Ages 6-9
With Lego Spike Essentials “Quirky Creations”, you’ll construct a LEGO model that includes motors, light sensors, sounds, and light blocks. Using icon or word blocks, you’ll learn how to program your bot to move. You can also add lights and sounds to make it uniquely yours!
LEGO Spike Prime: Ages 10-14
Spike Prime participants will collaborate with a partner and will delve into the world of scratch-based coding. You’ll learn how to use motors, sensors, lights, and sounds to manipulate and move your robot. Individualized challenges will be given based on levels of experience.
Video Game Design
With the guided tutorials of Microsoft MakeCode, participants will level up their coding abilities! Participants will develop programming skills by quickly creating and modding retro arcade games. This course is taught by Adam and/or Nate Corkhum.
Python Coding: Ages 12 and up
Participants will take their experiences and knowledge of block based coding and level up to learning the language of Python coding. This course will address basic fundamentals and syntax, with application on beginner's projects. This course is taught by Adam Corkhum, UMass Lowell senior in Computer Science.
